Workshop on the “Climate Action Plan for Net – Zero GURUGRAM by 2050”
Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, President, M3M Foundation, participated in a day-long workshop on the topic "Climate Action Plan for Net- Zero GURUGRAM by 2050” and presented the foundation’s vision and actions through various initiatives as innovative solutions on the 6th of June 2022, a day succeeding the World Environment Day.
The workshop was organised by GMDA, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, The Celestial Earth and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation at Apparel House, AEPC, Sector 44, Gurugram, Haryana. Organisations like WRI, Chintan, GuruJal, The International Council on Clean Transportation, CSE, NIDM, Haryana Bio-Diversity Council, CEDAR, and Climate Bond Initiatives put forth their views & perspectives on climate change in net-zero scenarios, GHG emissions in relation to building, waste, transport and power sector. The discussions were also on climate adaptation, mitigation, and management of the urban environment and nature-based solutions. As we all know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged at the COP26 UN climate conference that India will achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070, Gurugram has set this target for 2050.
