Session 2: Adaptation and Role of Nature-Based Solutions

The Celestial Earth hosted its 12th Year Foundation Day Conference, "Pathways to Resilience: Climate Adaptation & Nature-Based Solutions," on 9th January 2025 in New Delhi.

Session 2: Adaptation and Role of Nature-Based Solutions, moderated by Dr. Tania Bhattacharya (Celestial Earth), featured prominent speakers, including Dr. RR Rashmi (TERI), Dr. Madhu Verma (IORA Ecological Solutions), Prof. Pradyot Ranjan Jena (NIT Surathkal), Smt. Akshita Sharma (ADB), and Smt. Urjaswi Sodhi (UNDP).

The session focused on integrating nature-based solutions into climate adaptation strategies, emphasizing the valuation of ecosystem services, blended finance for resilient infrastructure, and climate-smart agriculture for emission mitigation and enhanced resilience.

Discussions underscored the critical need for mainstreaming adaptation into development planning, establishing frameworks to measure adaptation benefits, and adopting a bottom-up, multi-stakeholder approach for effective program implementation.
