The Gurugram Climate Action Plan 2050, developed by The Celestial Earth, received commendation for its ambitious approach and comprehensive stakeholder engagement in achieving net zero. As a strategic roadmap, the plan aims to reduce emissions, foster economic growth, enhance quality of life, and protect the environment in Gurugram—a major financial and technology hub. It addresses the impacts of rapid urbanization and industrial growth, including increased greenhouse gas emissions, rising temperatures, worsening air quality, and flood risks.

The plan outlines strategies targeting four key sectors: stationary energy, transport, waste, and AFOLU (Agriculture, Forest, and Other Land Use). It also establishes monitoring mechanisms to help local authorities track progress towards the net zero target by 2050.

Tania Bhattacharya, founder and CEO, and Anindya Bhattacharya, Executive Director of The Celestial Earth, expressed that this recognition validates their commitment to sustainability through innovative strategies and solutions to climate change. They emphasized that such achievements inspire them to continue their mission of reaching net-zero goals both domestically and globally. The Bhattacharyas also noted that this award represents a collective milestone for their team and partners, reinforcing their dedication to advancing the global sustainability movement.
